There are lots of good choices out there, but be sure you get one with plenty of eye relief.. somewhere around 3.5" minimum or more I would suggest.. The .338, while generally not a brutal recoiler, can hand out a good wallop and give the shooter "scope-eye" if you have to crawl up into it to get your sight picture. That is gonna cause flinching for sure...

I have the same scope (except 40mm Duplex) on my .338. It is a very clear and tough scope with plenty of eye relief for a hard kicker. Good choice.

My advice is to be sure to buy a scope model that has a reputation for being rugged. The 338 Win. Mag. has a spiffy recoil and a lesser scope will not likely hold up for long. I would avoid any of the "economy" scopes regardless of maker and all of the "off brands". The inexpensive scopes are inexpensive for reasons.

Yuup .... never been acused of being thorough !!

I have an older Vari-X III .... about a 1990 vintage. It has been on a Browning 30.06 Spr. that has been shot 100's of times. Never had a single issue.
