How much are you looking to spend and what magnification are you looking for? If I was looking for a new 3-9X scope right now in the $200-250 range, I would buy a Vortex Diamondback. $300 could get a Vortex Viper 3-9X. I have a Vortex Viper in 2-7X and it is an awesome scope for the money. You can look at some internet sites like OpticsPlanet, SWFA, and Natchez and see some pretty good deals and demo scopes. Good luck!

x2 Deer Predator

I have nearly all Bushnell scopes on my rifles, and have found them to be excellent scopes. And they do back up their lifetime warranties.

I have the Elite 3200 Short Action 3-10X 40mm on my old Remington 742 and it is clear as a bell. I haven't had the occasion to test the Rainguard treatment but have heard good things about it. I picked it up for $160 last year from Natchez on sale.

I agree with each of the above comments. I do not have a Vortex, but one guy I hunt with does and really likes his for the $$$. I do have an Elite 4200 (not the 3200) . It surprised me how good it performs. I don't that Bushnell's "model" naming includes either of these models. But I would be surprised that their new line is not a good value as well. As for Leupold, their Veri X-II has long been acclaimed as a great value. I have the older Veri-X III's. These two have been very good values.

If you have the coin, you should be able to find a good buy in the Ziess Conquest 40 mm. 3-9's. This line of scopes in my book is one of the best values out there.
