Got a good deal on a Savage 110 in 30-06 at the pawn shop and it came with a Tasco scope.
Mentioned to my brother I thought I might like to upgrade my scope... he pulls out from the clutter in his office a TR22 Trijicon 3-9x40. Only issue appears to be it fell off the ATV and into a creek. (ouch)
The "dot" is no more but all seems well with the scope.
Short term question... assuming all is well with the scope internals...rifle comes with Savage scope mounts. Should I look to upgrade the mounts or will these suffice?
Long term question... After the season can trijicon fix the scope? Would this be cost effective vs buying a new scope (and not a $1000 scope)
Thanks for the help.

My guess is that the scope can be repaired. I know they (the folks at Trijicon) can replace the Tritium after it originally goes out. I think they say that typically occurs in 10-12 years (if I remember correctly). I seem to remember the cost being in the $200 range...much cheaper than buying a new scope. I'd give the Trijicon folks a call though.
Regarding the mounts I'd replace them. Why take the chance? There are many good choices to utilize.
Good luck and please post any info (regarding the Trijicon stuff) you uncover.
