I have a Nikon Slug Hunter 3x9 with the BDC reticle on my H&R Ultraslug gun. Sight it in for 50 yds. and shoot accurately out to 200 yds. First you must find what sabot slug your shotgun likes best. Once you have done that, you will be more than pleased with the Nikon Slug Hunter. The optics are clear as a bell and the flexibility to increase magnification is there if you need it. I sighted my gun in at 50 yds with Remington Accutips and held a sub 4" group at 200 yds. (from a bench rest). Personally, I find that amazing. That gun with that scope and ammo shoots better than I can hold! Now if only I could carry the benchrest around in the deer woods!

As far as conventional scopes go you can't go wrong with Leupold but I have a Bushnell RD Trophy on my 835 slug barrel. Not a good choice under low light but here in NY with sunrise-sunset legal big game hours I have no problem with that.I would not use one for turkey hunting since we can hunt 1/2 hr before sunrise.
