best ocean rod and reel?
for fishing off the jetty or in the bay what rod and reel should i have? I have an old crappy one now but i need a new one. I would like a spinning reel. Where is the cheapest place to get it?

I would suggest a 7ft Ugly stick in the 20# line class. For your real, a Penn 7500 series will handle about 95% of your pier and shore fishing needs. I have hundreds of fish from 1-100 lbs with that same set up. Both the rod and reel will take the abuse that you will come across.
