RE: Biggest Hammerhead
NC, this one was bigger!
We had a Summer home at Anna Maria Island, FL for 33yrs (1955-1988) and use to fish at the City Pier and the Rod & Reel Pier. There is a Picture there of this Hammerhead.

RE: Biggest Hammerhead
back in the 70's i belonged to the fl shark club i know that in the middle 70's a guy (blackie cant remember his last name) caught a 700lb+ hammer off the jax pier and at that time it was a record but later in the 70s i did hear about a bigger one caught in the tampa bay area. i have always heard that there was some big hammers in that area. i did catch one of st augustine in the late 70s on 30lb line that would have been a record for the line class but we used a bang stick when we got it to the boat. it went 475lbs if i could find a picture of it i will post it. i have pics of a lot of big sharks we caught back then off st. aug.

I'm a charter member of the Florida pier anglers association and have access to the photo of the shark at the Jax pier. I fish that pier on a regular schedule. To see a pic of Blackies shark go to www.jacksonvillebeachpier.com look for the link for photos, on the left side of the page. Click it, and then look for where it says "click here to see photos" and click there. click on sharks and it will be the 2 black and white photos.
