Default Powder for .243

I am interested in reloading for my .243 with 100 gr bullets.
What would be a good powder to use?
I use it for deer and the occasional coyote

If you are going to use the 100 gr bullets I would give the H4831 a try.

I have gotten good groups with everything from IMR 4350 to RL22. The latter powder will often give the best velocity if you have a longer barrel (ie. 24"). Also, the 100 grain Sierra flatbase (ProHunter) has been a consistent performer for me. Taken everything from marmots to elk. Good luck. Roscoe

Gosh...there are many powders for the 243......my choice for 100 gr is H4350....around 42 grains. For Varmit loads the faster IMR4895 is real tough to beat. since each rifle is different, you are just going to experiment with the stuff......that's what it's all about. Regards, Rick.

I found IMR 4350 worked good. It's a pretty forgiving round, a lot of powders work well in it.

I like H414 and Varget. Those two will reload the entire spectum of bullets.

I think H380 on the fast side, and WW 760 on the slow end about covers it. You can use slower powders but don't seem to gain a whole lot. RL-19 oughta be in there somewhere's too.

I've worked up loads with 4064, 4350 and H380, all will work well. I kinda lean towards 4350 so I don't have to keep so many different powders on hand.

Thanks, I will probably give IMR 4350 a try, I have done a little reloading for my 30-30 and used IMR 3031 but I think this is a little slow for the 243
