RE: 308 Shooters.
You know James, surprisingly, I couldn't get the 150 pro hunters to shoot well in my 308 A-Bolt Medallion but shoots 165 gamekings like nobodies business. Usually anything from Sierra doesn't fail me. But thats the way it is with reloading.

The gun is not a tack driver with the Pro-Hunters. It will shoot them into 1 1/2 inches. They are good performers however. It shoots Corlokts quite a bit better and Ballistic tips too. I have yet to try any heavier bullets but plan on giving the 165 grainers a try this year. Thanks again. I have loaded a jillion 190 gr Hornady BTHP for silhouette shooting with he 308 but that has been the extent of my loading for the 308.

How does the 165 Game King perform on deer size game. I think my fastest load with the 150 grainers was with IMR3031. I have misplaced my chronograph book. I am sure it will turn up right where I forgot I left it.

The 165 Gameking could be one of the best all around .308 Winchester hunting bullets. Good for mulies and caribou - and even adequate for elk at moderate range with good bullet placement (rib shots, not shoulders). It gets a little explosive at .300 Win Mag velocities - unless the range is very long.
Another great bullet, if your gun will shoot them, is the Swift Scirocco. The 150's are designed for deer size game - even at .308 speeds - and the 165's are made for game up to elk at muzzle velocities up to 3K.

RE: 308 Shooters.
I picked up a Model 700 Classic today in 308 with a 24" barrel. I bought the Browning from my son when he was going to sell it to buy a new computer. I told him he could buy it back if he ever wanted to. However I wouldn't be without a 308 so I bought this one for insurance. As he has grown older he has kind of lost interest in hunting anyway. He still loves to shoot pistols though.
I try to stay away from shoulder shots so the Gameking might be a good bullet for me. I need to try the heavier Ballistic tips too.
