Default whats a good 9mm load for a walther P.38?

I heard that most factory 9mm parabellum loads aren't nearly as hot has the original german 9mm luger, I was wondering if anyone has a Walther P.38 and has run into jamming problems do to loads not being hot enough?? or if anyone reloads 9mm for a P.38, what is the best powder or loads to go with??

Can't tell ya about a walther, but I have been loading 7gr of HS-6 with a 115gr XTP I believe. I love loadign HS-6. Meters so nice. Let us know how it turns out. I also load 5.5gr of Unique with a 115gr. Works fine too. Unique is more challenging to load, I believe. This is shot out of a berretta 92FS.

found a good factory load that functions great and is plenty accurate, and costs $4.59 a box of 50 which is about the same price it would cost me to reload lead cast bullets and these ones are jacketed so no need to reload 9mm now. The loads are brown bear 115 grain fmj's

Yep, 9mm is hard for me to justify reloading sometimes.

Just load the standard 9mm load,it doesn,t shoot any special ammo. The storys about german luger ammo being different,is what happened after WW11.When solliders brought back lugers, they would,nt shoot right with american made ammo.So for a while then nobody wanted them.Until it was found out that the german ammo was hotter than american manufactor, and us ammo didn,t have the power to blow back the action to make it operate. That is not the case with the p-38. They were made to superceed the luger and the design is different. so just use regular 9mm ammo,or listed loads for it. vangunsmith
