Default Need a new load for 300win 165 grain

Used Nosler B-Tip this year just because I knew it would work, but it does not meet my standard and the deer looks like I used buckshot. I use the 300 Win at 3200fps and shoot 250lb-150lb on the hoof deer out to 300 yards normally, and farther if I want, before you bash me I can put the bullet within 2 inchs of bullseye at 600 yards thanks to my Uncle Sam. I tried the Hornady SST when it came out and it did not expand at 300 yards with a 308. Nosler Partsion good for 300 yard max very inaccurate but great performance. Serria gameking is too soft and will come apart above 2800fps but great in 30.06, or 308. I wish they would come out with a Accubond in 165 to try. Takes alot of time and deer to find a bullet that works and I'm trying to shorten the amount of time it takes me to work up a load. So let me hear about some performance of other bullets and price is not a problem.

I'm currently shooting the 165 gr Barnes XFB at 3100 fps in my 300 win . I'm getting on a good day 2" groups @ 300 yds and so far complete pass thrus on four elk at close to that range . I tried some of the different jacketed bullets and wasn't happy with the result I got . Sierra and Hornady bullets to be exact .

crimedog I'm getting very little damage as far as the deer go . not near as much bloodshot as a jacketed bullet . Noslers work good to but I prefer the Barnes bullets .

they dont make an accubond in 165 but they do in 150. if u dont like the 150 i would try the interbond from hornady in 165. read a lot of good things about this bullet and has the same idea that accubond does. good luck.

I like the Barnes X bullets, expensive but performance is second to none.

I shoot a 165 gr Swift Aframe ahead of RL19 in my 300WSM. I use Norma Brass, CCI mag primers & I believe my velocity is about 3,150. It groups right at 1".

165 g nosler partition, win brass, cci primers, and r-19 right at book max. shoots 1" or less at 100 yards. shot my best long range group of 3" at 450 yards with this load. took a colorado elk and two michigan whitetails with it. great performance on the deer, both lung shots and dropped on the spot. the elk took 2 hits, 1st was back a little and left a baseball size exit wound, 2nd through the lungs and droped it on the spot.

I have found in my 300Wby that the speer 165 gr Grand slam works real well, accurate and speer does have a thicker jacket so you won,t have to worry about it coming apart, and mushrooms great. Give them a try. vangunsmith
