In the alliant reloading data manual it has a 30-30 cowboy load that uses a 165 gr lead cast flat nose bullet and 5.5 grains green dot powder. The powder charge seems kinda low could this be a misprint or error?? if not has anyone had any good experiences with this load? I'm wanting to shoot it from a marlin 336 with the micro groove bore, in the past I stayed away from lead cast because I figured the barrel would foul up real fast with the micro groove bore. The load data states 1,065 fps from a 24 inch barrel with the lower velocity should I be ok to shoot lead cast from my marlin 336??

1000 or so FPS won't lead , assuming proper bullet diameter and good lube. Be sure your bullets are sized properly, multi-groove rifleing likes bullet diameters a bit larger than conventional rifleing. I would look at .309 or .310.
