7mm Remington Mag loads.

Am getting a 7mm mag barrel for my T/C Encore and am wondering what some of your favorite bullets and loads are. Never loaded the 7mm, but have loaded lots of other calibers. Main purpose is for deer hunting and a back up to my Browning 300 WSM for Elk. Thanks for your help.

I had good luck this past year with the 160 gr. Nosler Accubond, 68 grs. H1000, Fed 210M primer and RWS brass. RWS brass tends to be thicker than most, so this load probably could be increased a couple of grains with other brass, but work up from below, of course. I've also had good luck with IMR 4831, IMR 7828, RL22 and H4831 in this cartridge.
For my next project, I'll be trying out the 140 gr. Barnes Triple Shock along with either RL22 or IMR 4831.

I've worked up many a 7 rem mag load and for some reason found the near max loads most acurate. guess they like a compressed load. I like the hornady 139 hpbt for deer.65 gr of 4350 gets you around 3100fps. I've never had any problem with the hollow point working on deer. Elk is another story.

Thanks guys. I was thinking a 150 grain bullet could be used for either deer or Elk. My Elk load for my 300 WSM is the 180 grain Nosler Partition. But as a backup gun, the 7mm with a 150 gr. pill ought to do. I'll have to experiment with it, but thanks for your suggestions. The 7mm looks to be a very good cartridge.

If you're going with a 150 gr. bullet and elk is a possibility, make sure to use a stout bullet.
