300wsm reloading problems
After i resize the brass on my WSM it will allow me to close the bolt easilly it is hard to close. I have hornady dies is there something differnet about them. Should i not bring the dies all the way down to the ram or what the brass is fine after i shoot it, but after it goes through the full length resizer it does not seem to function as well. any info would be apreciated Thanks

Hello eyeballjr
Im not sure I understand the question but going to take a stab at it . I wouldn't run the case the whole length of the die only just the neck . You may also be not seating the bullet deep enough in the case. If this is the case you can create dangerous pressure. you may want to try and seat the bullet a little deeper in a dummy round and try that. Mike |

Sounds like Old 3 shoot has it covered from the info given

one other thing you might want to check is a dry or sticky expander. Sometimes, especially with a sharp shoulder, you can actually pull the shoulder up when your expander comes out of the case neck. Try a piece of new brass and see. Size it and check in your chamber for an easy fit without a bullet seated in the case.

larry i think youve got it. It is kind of hard to bull down where the expander comes out of the neck. Is there any way to correct this like lubing the expander. When i first got the dies the expander came all of the way out of the dies. and i had to put it back in and tighten the crap out of it.

RE: 300wsm reloading problems
eyeball, try brushing the insides of your case necks with a bore brush before you resize. A little graphite on the brush wouldnt hurt. You can also apply some case lube to the inside of the necks with a q-tip, the least amount you can put on there will be about right. You can also chuck your expander up in a drill and polish it with some steel wool or a scotch brite green pad. One or all of these things ought to make the expander operate smoother. I usually clean my cases after resizing, that will remove any lube from the inside of the neck. Othewise you might get some powder sticking to the lube in the necks. Try just brushing the necks with graphite first, that will do it most of the time.

RE: 300wsm reloading problems
Nope im starting to think that it is the dies. How often does the company mess up on dies? Is this common. I've tried everything. It is not the expander/decaper i know that. I have turned the die down, and i have turned it up still nothing. Now I have run out of brass. So i will have to order some. I am starting to get P.Oed. I E-mailed Hornady the other day and they have not resonded, and that chaps my hide to. I am thinking of just getting a neck sizing die for it and going from there. What is your guys opinion on all of this stuff. This is the first, and probably last time i have owned hornady dies. Think i will stick with rcbs, or lee from now on. They have never given me any problems.
