Default Manual or Digital

Now days, everything is manual or digital. Which direction should I go when it comes to Calipers and Scales....etc.

Thanks

Calibers, digital is the way to go. Easy on the eyes.

For scales my vote is to stay away from digital. I got on this digital kick cause I was having trouble with my eyes. So I tried out several from the cheap cabelas model to the RCBS partner to pact. I can still trickle in a load faster with a manuel beam scale than I can digital. All the digital were very sensitive to wind, breezes, doors slamming, dryer running. Also, they wouldn't update fast enough when trickling loads. Where a beam scale is real time movement. So I gave up on digital. Some of my friends like the auto powder dispenser with digital scale. But I have proved time and time again manually doing it, I can do it faster, and I trust it more.

I prefer a manual caliper but find the digital scales much quicker and just as accurate.

I think a digital caliper will be ok to start with, but I would use a balance beam scale to start out with. The RCBS RC Supreame Kit comes with a balance beam scale. Good luck.

I use digital calipers and mics but i don't care for digital scales. I have two sets of RCBS 505 beam scales and they have been flawless and have always served me well. I've thought about getting a set of the RCBS 10-10 beam scales but just don't know if they would be any better than the 505's i have.

Now DG has a point I didn't cover in my original accessment. For wieghting one item like broadheads, and brass, etc., digital does whip up on a beam. So if you got the flow, buy both. My biggest problem is my eyesight also.

I have both calipers, but to be honest my only preference is to which one I happen to find first . I have four different presses set up and don't always put things back in the cabinet . I have used one to check the other and they read the same .

I use manual calipers and both a digital and a beam scale. I like the checks and balances i can get. I use the beam to weigh about every 5th charge from the digital scale just to confirm.
