Default Found My 308 Win Load

Back in Dec my wonderful wife got me a T/C Compass in 308 Win because I had expressed the desire for a truck gun I didn't have to worry about getting banged up. I had an old Nikon 4x scope in a drawer that I put on it and then bore sighted. I never shot the 308 Win so I had to spend some time getting all the components for it except for primers since I have a couple of thousand Fed LR primers on hand. After a lot of effort I got everything I needed and loaded up about 20 different rounds with 4 or 5 different bullets. I found what it likes:

130 gr Barnes TTSX bullet over 44.3 grs of Varget and a Fed LR primer. That is a 100 yard group. I also got a load with the Hornady 150 gr SP and 44.5 grs of Varget that was nearly as good. Now I'm going to load at least 50 of each and I'm ready to break in the rifle on some whitetail does here in TX this fall.

Cheers Y'All

personally, I've found the 165 grain, bullet in most of my 308 rifles to be the most accurate weight
btw congrats on the nice groups

That will definitely work. You can't fault the rifle if you miss

Have you tried any loads with IMR 8208 XBR? Curious what your results were if so.

The only thing I would suggest now is to try and repeat this performance. You know what they say "Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while"!
