Default Loaded my first cast bullets

These handloads consist of 250 grain Cast Performance WFNGC bullets, H110 powder in different increments, Federal Large Pistol primers, and Starline cases.

Due to the short barrel of my 41 Magnum reducing the potential muzzle velocities, I decided to try out some cast bullets. In spite of having all the components and dies for months, I've only now figured out the reason for the Blackhawk's inaccuracy problem that has plagued me all year.. Now that I have, though, I can finally start testing proper hunting loads.

Two things I've learned loading these bullets: I need to flare the case mouths more before seating the bullets, and I need to use less crimp since the cases bulged slightly but noticeably.

I've got an uncle that's shot allot of deer with cast bullets from .38scl, up to .45-120.

Seem to do well for him.

I only shoot cast bullets in my .38 Spl/.357 magnums, .45 acp, and .44 magnums. I also load cast bullet practice loads for many of my rifles, including my .300 Weatherby and .375 RUM.

Are you crimping into a groove?

Cast bullets are almost ideal for the loader who likes to shoot a lot.

I don't know the length of the .41 barrel. My experience is that accuracy is "tough" with short barrels. I would think that finding just the right powder would be important.
