Default .41 Magnum loads. Any pet powders or loads?

I will be stuffing about 700 .41 Mag cases next week with 210 gr hard cast SWC, 210 gr HP Hornady XTP, and 170 gr Sierra JHC.

My current powders on the shelf are Hercules 2400 (old stuff about 15-17 yrs old) Unique (brand new) and Blue Dot (brand new)

Any suggestions for these combos (or other powders involved) would be appreciated!

Thanks loaders.

what kind of revolver do you have? like rr i havent had a 41 for a long time. i used to use AA #9 in mine. dont think its available anymore. i had a ruger redhawk and it would handle some warm loads close to the 44 mag. now i have the 44 mag. check with your loading manual to get loads for those powders you have and start with the middle of the loads and work your way up toward max. just be careful when getting near max. good luck.

Thanks for the replies ... I have a S&W 657-3, stainless with a 6+" barrel, half lug, Hogue grips, and a comfortable shooter. It is way more accurate than me, but I hope to change that with some future range practice.

I have a good number of loading manuals and info available to me, just thought I'd get some owner advice form any .41 owners out there. We .41 shooters getting fewer and fewer.

Any other input is more than welcome.

might look into a ruger blackhawk in the future in 41 mag. always likes shooting the 41.

I've been loading 200 gr. Speer JHP's on top of a very healthy charge of H4227 in my Blackhawk. It shoots it well, and I really am a fan of the .41 Mag. Not that many of us around anymore....

18.3gr of IMR 4227 210gr bullet it's not a hot load but accuracy is great.YOu can go up to 20 grains in 4227. Stop using Unique long time ago to get a decent load it will swell the case and make extraction a bear. 2400 is a good powder and have been experimenting with it but haven't built a pet load yet. Decent groups though.

Thanks for the replies. Blackelk, Pawildman, and Mr. Slim ... always good to hear specific results with powders etc. I've seen 4227 mentioned in many of the loading literatures, but haven't put a can on the shelf yet. Since I load for the .41 and the .357 mags maybe I should locate a can of IMR 4227. I have also seen a few loads listed with the AA #9 but even more lisitings with WW-231.

I'm looking for low-medium to low-comfortable loads with the 500 hard 210 gr hard cast bullets I have, but have 300 XTP's that I want to load fairly hot. Not screaming, but up near 1325 fps ... maybe a smidge faster.

Thanks for the input, and any further info is always appreciated!
