300 Win Mag???
#1
Just picked up a new Ruger M77 Mark II in 300 Win. Mag. I will be reloading for it and was wondering if there is anything I should know about this fine round.
First off, I had a hell of a time finding brass. Got lucky and found three bags at a local Bass Pro Shop. Everyone else was out of stock. I will more then likely load up some 165 gr. and 180 gr. loads. Any suggestions on a good powder to use? I have been looking over different reload manuals , but none give any good info on what would be a better powder to use. I will be use this gun for hunting at moderate ranges.
Thanks.

The slower burning rifle powders are a natural choice for the .300 Win. Mag. H4350, IMR 4350 and RL-22 are good powders for 150-165 grain bullets. For the heavier 180-200 grain bullets H1000, H4831, IMR 4831, IMR 7828, RL-22, and RL-25 are among the recommended powders.

I use 79 grains of h4350 short cut behind 180 grain bullet in my 300 wby. Thats to hot for a 300 win, but the 4350 should be good for a win. Ive tried H1000 an did not like it as much as the h4350 for lighter bullets but do like it for the heavier ones.
