Can't give you a specific load but if you are looking for max penetration with any 7mm then no sense giving up the performance of boat tail spitzer shaped bullets by hamstringing yourself with ancient RNs. Look into the 160 TTSX from Barnes, it will out penetrate and certainly have considerably better ballistics than the old 175 RN!

shooting under 250 yards the rn will do a good job, longer bearing surface, larger frontal area and out of my 280 they shoot in the same hole (okay about 3/4-7/8" @ 100). I sort of like them

which 7mm, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm Weatherby Mag, 7 x 57mm, 7mm Rem Express (280), or 7mm-08?

Assuming the Rem Mag, overall length is max at 3.290, according to a quick search on the 'net.

OK - went to the Hornady site, no length given. They did have a sectional density listed, maybe you can calculate length from that? Or, I suppose you could call or e-mail them. I've had good luck with e-mailing the guys in the custom die department.

put a bullet in a spent casing sticking out a little far. chamber the round slowly and the lands will push the bullet in pull the round out slow and mic it. do it a few times till you get a consistent reading. but normally the max OAL is 3.290 i like to do this with all i reload for because if you seat for the ogive to touch the lands it will be more accurate.
