Default Winchester premium nickle-brass?

I was wondering is the Winchester nickle plated brass, like the brass Win. uses for their premium factory Ballistic Silvertip ammo, is better than standard brass for reloading. I met a guy who was shooting some in .243 Win. who doesn' t load but keeps his brass, and if they are better than standard brass cases I' m going to offer to buy them off him if the price is right.

well.......

I' ve reloaded a set on the nickel Win brass I amassed from shooting the Premium Silvertip Ammo about 10 times now.........And it is still holding up. I have retired several of the cases because the primer pockets got too loose - but other than that, all is well - no sign of impending case separation nor has the plating started to flake yet.

BTW......... these are .308Win cases fired in semi-auto rifles, full-length resized everytime, and annealed after every 3rd loading. Most of this was used for hunting load development, so the loadouts were light to moderate for the most part.

One other thing - my cases were VERY light compared to most other brass, so you may have to adjust your powder level accordingly.

The only difference I' ve noticed is that it' s easier to keep the nickel plated brass clean.

This is about the only advantage I see with nickle brass-it does not corrode!
