You will need a good reloading manual, it will give many loads for many powders. All the major bullet companies publish books and all have usefull information. Load data can also be found on powder company websites.

I have the hodgdon manual and alliant which I have been comparing load data. I will be grabbing the Barnes manual because that's the ammunition I plan to reload. If they have the speer, hornady and nosler manuals ill get those as well.

Hodgdon or Imr powders are a great choice. I have the best luck with varget, I use it in all 3 of my 308 wins' 300 rsaum, 280 AI and when i had my 223.

Tons of options out there. I prefer the powder to fill the case to the point the bullet it almost touching or in some cases touching the bullet. This creates a lot more consistency when shooting odd angles. Usually this means slower burning powders and near max loads. For large cases it works best especially in magnums. Less chamber pressure and it builds speed down the barrel perfect in my way of thinking. You don't want to load slower burning powders in anything less than 24" barrels it's a lost cause.

I like H 4350 or H 4831 in the 30-06 to 300 win mag, in the 223/22-250 I really have excellent accuracy using H 380. IMR 4831 in the 7mm-08 works well too. I've stayed away from the Reloader powders but I hear good things. My personal loads can't get much better for accuracy and speed.

Main thing is you don't really want to load a bunch of cartridges at one time until you test them for accuracy. Maybe 15 to 20 at a time until you find that sweet spot by going up and down on powder charges. Even a few tenths of a grain of powder can open a group up or shrink it down. That is the advantage of reloading eventually you'll make loads that are superior to any premium factory load at less than half the price.

Use the Case Overall Length gauge to start with C.O.L. it will be on the loading data. The rest is for more experienced loaders. Buy a caliper it's a great tool if you want to perfect loads that are superior. They don't cost much.

I'm getting under 1 MOA with IMR 4350 in all 3 of my 30-06s and my 25-06 using Hornady 150 grain BTSPs in the 3 and 117 grain BTSPs in the 25-06. I'm going to try it in the .243 Sako I'm getting this Spring that is down in Texas where my Dad just passed on 9/11. It's a tack driver and was shooting under 1/2 MOA with factory ammo every time I used it down there. I'm also going to work up some loads with IMR 4064 that Hornady recommends for their .243 bullets and hope to shoot a few antelope with it out in Wyoming next October.

You need a medium -fast for the 7-08, 30-06, and .223. Varget, 4895, 8208. There are millions.

You need a medium slow for the .300 and 7 mag. H4831, RL22, RL17

You could add a medium like H4350 or H414 or RL 17 that will work in the 7-08, .30 06, with heavier bullets and the magnum with lighter bullets.

It is good to simplify, and keep as few bullets and powders as possible. You spend less time and money chasing your tail and don't end up with a half pound of powder x and half a box of bullet y. Unless that is what you want to do.

I use IMR4350 in my 06, RL22 in 300win mag, and H870 in my 7mm mag. Lots of good powders out there to try.
