Vapodog is right.

I think Daffy ment to say 200 gr. BT.

Daffy:

Try the Federal or Remington 210 gr. Nosler Partition load. Good luck.

Nosler does indeed make a 180 grain bullet for a 338 winchester but Daffy inquired about a 165 grain bullet and the only one that I know of made for a 338 is the Barnes X....

to be more spacific I am going to try to make a 338 mag into a vvvveeeeerrrrryyyyy long long range deer gun.... That is why I am going to look for the lightest round with the highest weight retention..... I have loaded my 30-06 up to perform like a 300 win mag { almost}....and now I would like to do the same for the 338...but only make the 338 faster and for longer distances...I have heard of the 165 barnes X but as do not know that much about it....I am going to the local sporting good store to learn more this weekend... thanks to all for the insight...

220gr. is accually a 225gr. sorry

Nosler does not make a 225gr ballistic tip in .338" The only 225gr ballistic tip made by nosler is in .358" .In .338" they only make the 180gr and 200gr ballistic tip. They do make the new accubond in 225gr in .338" but since they just started arriving in canada you could not possibly have used them on deer during the last deer season. The problem with loading the .338" with very light bullets is that the ballistic co-efficient is quite low and they don' t perform well at long range.
Daffy-How old are you.?I get the impression that you are very young.

Ok I just got off the phone with the person that does my reloading.... I have for my 338 a 210gr.spitzer.... The original question that I had asked was can I get 165gr. nosler for a 338...I have since learned that the only one that makes a 165 is Barnes...The ones that he loaded for me was not a 225 gr. but a 200 gr nosler ballistic silver tip.... And those do too much damage to the deer that I am hunting....I have a 30-06 and in it I am using a 150gr.nosler....I find this load to be most affective on the deer that I hunt....SORRY for the confusion......[:-][:-][:-]
