When reloading record evey componet, and lenght of case/OCL/ and length at base of O-give with a bullet compariter. Lots too.
At the range velocity, temerature, and group size. You will note any signs of pressure and stop shooting when any sign is noticed.
With excel you can get standard deveation, averge velocity as well as any other formula you wait once the dat is entered. Most chorney give ST.DEV/AVE. I like to have the velocity increas done in excel for my work up loads it helps to see when more powder results in no more velocity compared to the STD DEV and other tabulated data.

I read my Lyman manual, work a load up slowly until I find the right one for my gun.
I keep all loads documented in a spreadsheet.
Once I find a good load I pretty much stick with it.
I shoot the same load in .380 .40, .223 and 7mm now that I found one for each gun.
