Last summer I posted That I shot a 4 5/8" group at 500yds. with my 300 using 180gr. ball. Some advice was given on bullets with better B.C. I am ready to work up a load for hunting and I can't remember the advice.I will be using it on an Alaska mountain goat hunt in October.
Mod 700 laminated 300 rum. stainless

headhunter353, last year i worked on a factory remmy very similar to yours. the customer was useing for canada black bear. m700, ss.,syn, fac. 26" tube, trigger work, no break, and glassed.
165gr. nosler accubond
RL 25 96.5 grs
rem 9 1/2 LR
rem case
3.595" col
3420fps
remember,start low and work up
IMO, nosler accubond bullets tend to have an accuracy edge over other hunting type bullets (excluding bergers), IMO,(i'm not trying to start a best bullet debate war)
all load development was done in 15-40 degree weather, depending on the day. 3 shot, ragged hole (in the high .2s) at 100yrds. this bullet/speed combo is still making over 2000ftlbs at 500yrds. hope this helps
