Default Casing stuck in chamber...HELP!

My cousin and I were out shooting gophers last weekend and one of his reloads split the casing in 2, now the upper part is stuck. Anyone have any tried and true methods of extracting a broken casing? I tried getting it out last night but couldn' t budge it[:@]. The gun is a bolt action .22 Hornet if that helps. JDinAB

gunfighter is right on.....also you should use this experience as a reason to check your headspace....often times this problem is associated with excess headspace.
