I shoot a few different bullets, but would only hunt with the X. In lighter loads you can use XBT and not worry about lack of penetration. In the larger bores, I haven' t been able to measure the actual penetration yet. My .416 has gone through my target box every time. I did ALOT of shooting with .300 winnie and the 165 xfb is noticably better than the 200 part.

My brother had talked to me about the Barnes bullets and how they were suppose to be good. I thought I should check it out and after ready on how everyone is expressing on the performance of these bullets I guess I’m going Barnes all the way.

So for Elk would you go with the 180 gr. or the 165? I read somewhere that the 165 x performs like a 180 in another brand. I' ve always used 180 gr. Hornadys for elk and 165' s for deer but I' m changing over to x bullets this year due to all the good press I' ve been getting on them.
