Can't add much to what has already been posted. I started as a poor college kid loading 40 S&W with a Single Stage Lee Aniv Kit. Came with all the stuff I needed at the time. I loaded with it for many years before I got a progressive. Have a Dillon 550 now and love it, but also started shooting cowboy action shooting. The volume I needed/wanted to reload went from 100 or so a month to 1000 or better a month.
Had I not had a solid foundation with a single stage press I would think a progressive press would be a lot more than most people should do. Even now the wife and kids know when I am reloading on the bench they leave me alone so I can keep the head clear and have a safe time at it managing all the steps at once.

Wow, Thank you guys so much for the info! I'm sure glad I asked before just jumping in head first. The comment about having the kids learn as they get older really drives home the single stag idea of reloading. It is VERY important to me to have my kiddo's involved in the sport, and would not want to cut them out of all this fun because the equipment is to hard to use or set up. I started my son out with muzzle loading, letting him build the bullets with me gave him a great dael of pride when he took those rounds to the range and was able to see the fruits of his labor. I think that he has a real respect for shooting because of it. Not many 12 year olds can say they built the gun and bullets that just punched out the center of a target!
Once again thank you for the sound advice, hopefully we can get started soon!!!!
