Anyone doing this? Whichrecipe are you using and how successful are you at making hunting quality rounds? I'm thinking about the BPI sabot recipe, but there are some issues with it. . .or maybe the Lightfield recipe.

I have handloaded slug shells for both 12 and 20 ga. guns. I used a slow powder, and used the same charge as I would have used for an equivalent weight of birdshot with a comparable wad column. My ammo worked, but was no better than factory slug loads.
IF you stick to the slug manufacturer's recommended loads, you should be OK.

I posed this same question some time ago and got no responce. I wanted to make some lighter 20 ga. lightfield slugs for the wife and kids, and perhaps work up a 12 ga. lightfield slug for my hunting. contacted lightfield thru email and was told no 20 ga slugs were avalible for reloading. talked with several people in the know and they quickly discoraged me, based on the fact that to get some kind of a return on this venture i would have to load at least 200+ . I have opted to watch the flyers of the local outlets for sales, and feel like i am better off paying the cost of factory loads at least on slugs anyway.good luck
