BARNES GRENADE BULLET
Anybody load these yet? What do you think? Have you shot a yote or fox with them yet? Is there minimal damage to the pelt like they claim?
Would like to load some for my .22-.250 50gr. What powder and primers are working best for this load? I'm shooting a Savage BVSS heavy barrel.

RE: BARNES GRENADE BULLET
vadeerkiller,
I cant complain, It is quite heavy though. Something Idon't like to lug around on longtreks. Its more of a bench rifle. I am happy with the accuracy so far. I want to play around with some hand loads to see what I can get. Right now I get close to 1/2"-3/4" at 100yds.
Trigger is smooth and really crisp especially in our cold Wisconsin weather.
(a bit touchy.) I don't have a right index finger, so I use my middle finger and it may be less sensitive for trigger control.
All in all, not a bad rifle for the $$$.

RE: BARNES GRENADE BULLET
i have tried them, they are ok. i have shot one coyote with them, a big male about 150 but wasnt overely impressed. but at the same time, one kill dont tell my much. i didnt look the dog over very good, mangey!! didnt want to touch the dang thing and carry that crap back to my lab. accuracy is ok. they are not a nosler bt by any means. all in all, will probably stick with the noslers. and if it bears any on the thread, i shot them through a savage 12 in 22-250. and it is all the rifle a person needs and then some.

RE: BARNES GRENADE BULLET
I was very happy with Ballistic Tips, but here in SoCal we were forced to go with non-lead rounds, so I tried the 36 VGs in my 22-250. 38 gr of Varget gives me around 4200 fps. At first the accuracy was unimpressive, but after tinkering with bullet jump I got them shooting almost as well as the BTs.
I recently got a Baikal .223, and have been shooting them in front of 28 grains of Varget. So far they show promise.
