I was purusing my new Barnes reloading manual and noticed a new powder. MagPro. For my 300 Wby Mag, my pet load has been 88.5 grains of RL22 behind a 150 grain Barnes XXX. They had a load for this bullet with 96 grains of MagPro for a velocity of 3543. Wow!!!
Has anyone used this powder? Is it accurate? Consistent?
Thanks.

I've been strongly considering getting a BAR Safari in .25-06, and I was poking around on Barnes Bullets website and came across their load data for the 100gr TSX. It shows a MAX load of 60.5gr MagPro pushing the 100gr TSX out of a 24" barrel at 3323 FPS. That's smokin'. The data says it was the most accurate load. When I get the BAR, I think that's the load I'd try first.

I've had mixed results with MagPro. Tried it after a buddy of mine said it worked well in his .300 WSM. Couldn't get it to shoot well in my Kimber 300 WSM. Tried180 gr Interbond's and 180 gr. Partition's and just couldn't get it to group worth a darn.
Since I had some MagPro left over I loaded some rounds for a friend's 300 WSM and had it shooting sub MOA with the 180 gr. Interbonds. To reach the max loads in reloading books it filled the case and was a heavily compressed load IMO... perhaps the bigger case would alleviate this.It does meter very consistently in my experience though.

They used to brag it up on the Short Mags forum before it went communist and shut down.
I have quite a bit of it, haven't had much luck. I think it might work better in the heavy for caliber bullets, but that is just a suspicion of mine. I will probably do some more with it in the future.
