.45 die?

i got a question , i have been reloading for a few years now but with rifle dies now i want to reload for my .45 so i bought a rcbs taper crimp , question is should i have bought a roll crimp ? i am new at pistol reloading? i could use your addvice. thanx

No, what we are asking is which 45 caliber cartridge. There is the 45 ACP, 45 Colt, 45 Smith & Wesson, etc. Where the difference comes to play is how the cartridge headspaces in the gun. The 45 ACP headspaces on the case mouth so you don' t want a roll crimp. The 45 Colt headspaces on the rim so you can roll crimp it.

Since you said you have a Kimber you are shooting .45ACP ammunition. To answer your question, the .45ACP should be crimped with a taper crimp die. Only revolver loads should be crimped with a roll crimp die. I hope this helps and have fun shooting.
