I have tried the Speer bullets but got much better results with Barnes X bullets . I have found just about any bullet will work its just a matter of whats good in your opinion .

To add to my post above, I think the grand slam is a very good bullet.

I have used speer bullets in my 270 win (130grs ) found that grand slams hold together better than hot cores. Sierria game kings, hornady interlocks , noslers parttions are better. haven' t had much luck with Barns X bullets. Don' t stick with 1 brand. Try differnt bullets and weights. Speer grand slams are a good bullets.

I don' t have a .25 cal but I have used speer bullets in 6mm, 7mm, and .308 and to me they seem a bit fragile. They tend to break up quite a bit. I switched to Sierra GameKings for all my deer rifles.

There' s a lot of good comments about Speer' s Grand Slams here.....I have no doubt that they yield excellent terminal perforrmance. I just finished testing several bullets in my .300 H&H and the grand Slams just didn' t stand up to the Swift A-Frames for accuracy. As a matter of fact I' ve not found the Grand Slams an accurate bullet in any of my tests. This time I' g heading out for Kudu and eland and I want a bonded 200 grain bullet.......The Trophy Bonded might have done well but it wasn' t tested.

In my .25-06 the grand slam also showed poor accuracy of about 4" groups at 100 yards.

Thanks for all the replies. The Speer bullet is new to me but the one that i have loaded is the 120grn spt flat base which groups exceptionally well in my rifle 1/2" at 100yds. My main concern is how they will perform on deer. If the Speer doesn' t do what i' m looking for my next bullet choice will the the Nosler 120 grn partition. Again thanks! God Bless!

I just started using Speer bullets this past fall. They grouped EXCEPTIONALLY well in my 30-30. They only thing I was able to take with them was a 270 pound hog at around 25 yards. I had a quartering away shot. We were hunting with dogs so the hog was on the move. Dropped with one shot. Never recovered the bullet or fragments thereof. If they drop a big hog like that I would be entirely confident using them on deer. Good accuracy+dead animal=good bullet IMO. At 25-06 velocities however I would opt for the Grand Slam bullet
