tried to reload once fired federal power-shock 223 ammunition and could not seat the primers. i assume the primer pockets are rimmed as some military ammunition. anyone else have this problem? thanks

It's a crimp ring. You'll need to chamfer the ring to be able to cleanly seat primers. I personally prefer Winchester brass myself.

Use Winchester brass- you'll have far less problems.

Some of the federal brass out there is pretty much single use and disposable- too little brass in the casehead maing them pop primers on the 2nd or 3rd loading. Supposedly they changed some or all of their brass over the last year or so to better stuff.

I prefer Wichester brass too. I reloaded a box of Federal cases and they didn't group as well as the Winchester and Remingtons using the same exact load.

I'm a hard-core brass scrounger but I leave Federal 223 brass at the range.
