I'm about to put together some ammo for the 300 WM and would like to use RL22. The Nosler book calls for Federal 215 Primers. I believe those are magnum primers. I've never used mag primers while reloading for the 300 WM. Can I just use regular primers?
I've got a bunch of regular primers and don't want to spend the gas money to drive around looking for mag primers.
Thanks
Tom

RL22 wants to run hottttt. Use a magnum primer like the 215 or WLRM. 210 might do ok, as I have had luck with it in a 300RUM. All you can do is try.

I really don't have the time to screw this up so I'll have to go out and find the primers. I know the Federal primers are in short supply so I'll be looking for the Winchester primers.

I just shot some 300 WM loads over the chronograph, and saw no difference in velocity between reg and mag primers. However, it is summer. This past week I tracked down a carton of the mag WLR primers as I think a difference in performance might show up in cold weather. Why not give myself a little edge if there is one to be had?
Read a Barnesness article about the 270, wherein he showed better & more consistent performance when using mag primers.
