RE: Favorite 243 Deer Loads
I use the 95gr Combined Technology BT out of my 243. At max load (mine is slightly over max load, but work yours up from there), recoil is non-existent on my 9.5-10lb rifle.

I've use the 100gr Sierra BTSPs and I am NOT impressed. After I shot 2 deer that didn't even react to being hit, I used them to shoot paper. The deer end up dying, but they made it a long ways first, and I shot both again on the run to make sure they had some more holes in 'em.

My experiences with that bullet as well Rammer. I had to chase it all day to finish it off. The bullet hitthe back of theribs going in at an angle and deflected through the guts making on helluva mess. Thats what turned me off on the cartridge right or wrong.

sierra makes a nice accurate bullet, but they fall apart way to bad. they arent bad for paper and varmits but other than that i wont use them again. sever years ago i used 150 gr gamekings in a 30-06 at 3000fps and they weren't that impressive. for me its either nosler or hornady. and more often than not its hornady.
