Default RE: Lead bullets, differences than jacketed?

You will need an expander plug the same diameter as the cast bullet, and one that will "bell" the mouth of the case slightly so that no lead is shaved from your bullet when you seat it. m Most pistol dies come this way, but for bottle-necked rifle cartridges, you need a Lyman "M" die or the equivalent to expand your case mouths properly. If loading ammo for a semi-auto pistol, you MAY need a taper-crimp die also, but maybe not. It depends on how easily the reloaded round falls into the chamber. Check this by removing the barrel from the gun and dropping a couple of reloaded rounds into the chamber to see how easily they chamber. Some will need taper crimping, and others will not. Since straight SA pistol cases headspace on the case mouth, you can't roll crimp them without creating excessive headspace. Good luck. Lead alloy bullets will do for about 90% of all shooting, if a person works long and hard enough to discover the secrets!!

Keep yore powder dry!!
