My 5th edition of the Nosler manual lists IMR 4350 for the 160 gr. bullets. It recommends starting @ 46.5 gr. and maxing @ 50.5 gr. Max load indicates 2810 fps. with a load density of 82%. Their figures. Good luck..

It was the same for all three types of Nosler 160's they listed. Also, some of my other manuals indicate a slightly higher max loading is possible for bullets of this weight with the 4350, so use your own judgement and experience.........

my serria book has 44.1gr min to 51.1gr max. for a 160 gr bullet. 2300fps to 2700fps. serria recomends 55.4gr of Viht N165 for accuracy load 2600fps. hunting load is RE-19, 54.0gr 2700fps.
the lyman book has 45.0gr min to 51.5gr max for a 162 gr bullet. 2300fps to 2700fps. they claimthe max is the load you want but i dont recomend it. good luck!

I am not suggesting that people just willy-nilly use loads above published reloading manual maximums, because what makesa safe, excellent load inone rifle can be dangerous in another one of the same caliber!!
What I AM saying is if you want to know what load will workbest in YOUR RIFLE with any given combination of powder, bullet, primer and brass, you have to put some effort into it, and work up the load yourself.
That's what that press, powder scale, dies etc., are for! Reloading manual loads are great for beginners, but if you never get to the stage where youdevelop CUSTOM LOADS tailored for a specific rifle, you are skipping over at least half the potential of handloading, and will never learn anything new!

Something is wrong here! 2700 FPS MAXwith a 160 grain bullet in the 280 Remington with IMR 4350? I hate to say this, but I have accurate and faster160-grain loads with my numerous 7X57mm's. The 280 (in a bolt-action ofr single-shot) just HAS to be able to beat a 7X57!
