A good place to buy bullets or other precision shooting and reloading equipment is Sinclair International. They also have knowledgeable folks who are also shooters who answer the phones and take your orders. They can set you straight from experience if you have any questions regarding reloading or shooting. I have ordered from them many times and have received some excellent tips from them along the way. Hope this helps!

Thanks again for the info. I've spoken with the PH and he knows I'll be bringing handloads. Plus it's not like I'll be hunting dangerous game, so it's not a life or death situation if the cartridge failed.

I've purchased most of my supplies in the past from Midway, just wanted to find out from you guys who else is out there.

Thanks again....

DG - Are you kidding me? The restriction for plains game is .30-cal? My .270 Wby Mag is a much more powerful round than the .30-06, and a heck of a lot flatter-shooting. They won't let me use it to shoot a gemsbok, but they would let me use an '06? That is ludicrous. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have also heard that some governments and some airlines do not allow handloads. Maybe this is what you're referring to.

I have used MidwayUSA too. Another company with EXCELLENT pricing is Midsouth Shooters Supply. They also have probably the largest selection of reloading and general shooting supplies of any mailorder house.

Make sure you double-check the caliber restrictions for the region you are going to hunt in Africa. Many locations don' t differentiate between plains hunts and dangerous game.

Tuna-----------The 06 is perfect for plains game. I used it on my plains game hunt in May 02. What part of South Africa are you hunting? I hunted here the Limpopo River and the shots were close 25 yards on the warthog was the shortest & the longest was 150 yards on the Kudu. I use 56 grains of IMR 4350 in my 06. A couple of suggestions would be #1 break a couple of $20 into $5 so you can tip anyone at the airport if needed. It' s best & usual for the PH to meet you at the airport to make things go smooth on getting thru customs. #2 Make sure you visit Kruger National Park. We toured it for 3 days----Great time---saw the Big 5----I actually trimmed a couple of days off the hunt just to tour the park & it' s worth it. #3 Take lots of pictures !!!! #4 Take sunblock & a wide brim hat---the African sun is murder.

What animals are you hunting for?? I took 5--- Kudu, zebra, impala, steenboc and a warthog.

Next trip I' ll hunt for gemsbo, wildebeest, and another zebra. To me zebra just says " Africa"

Tuna-------1 other suggestion is on the airline. We used Gracey Travel out of Dallas for our arrangements. They did a super job. When you book your flight see if they can get good assigned seats. We were on the upper deck of the jumbo jet & if they can-- get the row rite on the exit----------Much more leg room !!!!! Also the upper deck is more more comfortable for the long, long, long flight over. We flew South African Airlines. From Altanta to Johannesburg.

I think the restrictions are on the caliber not the cartridge. Minimum of .30 cal, maybe.
