Hey all, do you guys buy your bullets online? If so, can you direct me to a site that has good prices?
I'm looking for Nosler Partitions. I'm heading to South Africa next summer (2004) and I want to start working up a load with 180 gr. bullets for a 30.06.
Also, over the years I've been using IMR 4831. Are there other powders that you think would be better for a 30.06?
Thanks,
Chuck.

I buy bullets from Midway and Graf's. Both are good sources!! For bullets of 180 grains oe heavier, both IMR 4831 and H 4831 are good choices. Iuse H4831 wuth 200 grain Nosler Partiton bullets in the '06, and load to around 2680 FPS. I know most African countries require at least a .375 for the big stuff like Cape Buffalo and Elephant, but seem to recall that Jack O'Connor's wife killed her Elephant with an '06 loaded with Hornady 220 grain solids.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm only going for a plains game hunt, no dangerous game. The PH actually recommended the 30.06 - lucky for me thats what I have. On the other hand, a good excuse to buy another rifle would be nice...
I'll have to buy powder from the local shop, and I may buy bullets there also if they can come somewhat close to what Midway or Grafs can. The thing is, I think I can get more pointers and better advice off of forums such as this. Most of you guys wouldn't bother responding to my question if you were not passionate about hunting and reloading. The guy behind the counter at the shop...I don't know what drives him, so I'm leery of the advice he may give.

I buy the majority of my bullets from Midway. As far as powder for the 30.06, i've had good luck with IMR4064,4350,4895. My best groups have come from the IMR4064 and that is what i now use most of the time.

I have also heard that there are outfitters/guides who won't permit handloads. I would not hunt with any such nut!!
