Bullets from 100-120gr are my recommendation for deer in the 25-06.

I like 117gr Sierra gameking spitzer boat tails; they're about$20/100 from most places, and have a high BC so will shootpretty flat.

120 grain speer hot core over 50 grains of Imr 4831.
WLRM primer. Winchester brass, velocity 3000 fps.
Elk = bang = flop
Start at 48 grainsand work up from there. If anyone tells you that a 25 06 isn't a deer cartridge, recommend them to a good therapist.

I think that Savage 111 has a 22" barrel, like my Browning. I've had best luck with 100gr Nosler partitions and Hodgdon 414 powder. The bigger bullets need slower powder to get best velocity and rotation. With the real slow stick powders you're going to get a lot of muzzle flash from unburned powder which means your not getting the velocity you were hoping for. Use 100 gr. balistic tips for range and varmits, 100grain partitions for deer and 'lopes.

Sierra Gamekings or Prohunters. They are not as flashy and fancy as others out there, but they perform. I too am guilty of getting caught up in the crowd of "it needs to be a ballistic tip, or moly coated, or fused, or bonded." Most of the time after I get over the initial fun of the new colored tips on bullets, I go get some sierra's and go to work. Get luck and have fun.

Should be trading for a 25-308 tomorrow and will probably try 4831 and 414 with sierra 100's and 117's.

You may want to try it for deer.
I've used this load for the pasttwo seasonsand it's performance on deer has been excellent for me. I've taken 6 deer with it and all but one fell in the scope when i squeezed the trigger and he didn't go 20yds and fell within sight. It's very accurate in my rifleand is also accurate in a couple other 25.06's that my friends shoot. Mike
