RE: Pet loads 357 mag
ive got a favorite but its pretty stout I wouldnt shoot it outta anything but a ruger. though ive shot it from my charter but had to retighten all the frame screws after 2 shots.
Brass: federal, Bullet: 125 grain montana gold HP, Primer: winchester small pistol (not magnum), powder: 9.3 grains alliant Unique and a COL of 1.580".
from both my ruger security six and GP100 these print under 3 inches at 25 yards with open sights. As a note: In the alliant powder load data guide it shows a max charge weight of 9.6 grains with a 125 grain bullet but with this exact combination of components 9.6 grains is too hot and will buldge cases and crater primers. Im gonna chrono the load this weekend im guessing its easily hitting 1400+ fps from a 6" barrel.

RE: Pet loads 357 mag
from every thing I have read hunter is right on the money
start small and work your way up some times a heavy load is just going to cost you accuracy
yeah we all want the big kick to impress our buddies with a big bang
so when I want a big bang I will stick with my 454 cas lol
I have one bud that doestn even want to shoot it any more lol and thats with the cheapest storebought load I could find lol
I think the next big pistol I am going to get is a s&w 500 there is one at blyths I realy want
well any how gl on your load bud work your way up no sence in damaging your gun over a large load
