Go to gun shows and ask around, dealers sometimes get odds and ends traded in. The local police station often gets ammunition turned in to them for disposal. For most people it is illegal to mail ammunition, so anything sent to you would have to be shipped. The other thing to try is start hanging out at the local gun clubs. Everyone there is shooting something.

Just wondering what you are starting this collection for. I would think, that for safety's sake, it might be wise to make the collection with dummy rounds. Spent primer, no powder but with a seated bullet. You would still have the collection and to me it would be a collection that could be shown without worry that someone who does not have knowledge of the care that loaded rounds need. As a scout leader, I made such a small collection for the scout troop and was not worried that a scout may take a loaded round out of the collection. It's better safe than sorry.

I have a small collection of rounds that i keep mounted on a board that contains one cartridge from ever rifle I have or have had. I think the mounting board came from MTM and is made of plastic. As far as dummy rounds make sure that you dont have any pointed rouds either you might poke someone in the eye

My father had a box of live ammo that he had given to him....whenever he hunted with someone, he asked for a shell....that box is now quite big and it contains a lot of live shells. I've more than doubled it since he died and I did it by going to gun shows. I'm still looking for a .700 Nitro.....and they ain't cheap!!!

I paid $5 each for all the weatherby magnums and $8 for a .470 nitro.

I'm not sure I can legally send you one in the mail.....trust me.....gun shows is the way to build a shell collection.

Start with shotshells.....when you have an 8 Ga, 10,12,14,16,20,24,28,32, and a .410 bore you can move on to Pistol shells!!
