Default shotshell primer subitution

Can you switch win 209 primers with rem 209 in win aa and rem sts hulls?I load 1 1/8 with aa 12 white wads and green dot powder at about 1150 fps. Would like to use just one brand of primer and i just wanted to check. Thanks

The answer is no.
However, I have never has any issues when switching primers in shotshells. Unless I am pushing a max load a primer is a primer

I've switched primers (Fed, Rem, Win, Fioch, Active, Ched, etc) in shotshell target loads without any harm. Was there a difference? Probably, but not that I could notice while firing. I used whatever I brand was the cheapest at the time.

That being said, however, the Win 209 primers seem to be a little bit undersized. After a few firings, especially after using another brand primer in that particular hull first, some primer pockets were loose enough that the primers would fall out when fired in a semi-automatic. Because of this, I tried to stay away from Win 209's altogether.

Different primers have different burn patterns which can cause to highpressure in some recipes . Most manuals don't reccomend switching primers or wads either for that matter .

I hate the thought of doing that even by accident. I would suggest going to the Alliant Powder Website. Click on Data and select what you are shooting. Then they will list enough Data Recipes to where youshould be able to useall the same primers and wads.

you probaly can but youll have to change your powder chargei think rem primers are hotter than the win 209
get a reloading guide it will tell you what hulls and powder-primer -wad -with different shot charges and grains of powder to use different recipe for different hulls
