I try to buy components in bulk to save money. For my AR-15 loads, I buy Winchester's 55gr soft points by the case, W748 in an 8-pound can, and Remingtion primers by the 1000. My cheap AR-15 rounds cost about 11 cents a round.
My Remington 700 VLS really likes 50gr V-Max bullets, so my cost per round jumps to about 20 cents a round. They are worth it, though. My 700 usually prints 5-shot groups I can cover with a dime at 100 yards.

Powder cost is about $0.05 each case
Primercost is about$0.02 each case
Bullets run about $0.04 each for FMJBT Winchester bullets
and about $0.09 each for Good Hollow pointbullets
and about $0.12 each forHornady V-max bullets
So to answer the question about $0.11 each for FMJBT and $0.19 each for the best varmint round. Good Luck Jovan

I was just getting into reloading stuff and figured it probably wouldn't work to reload AR15 rounds for plinking, just buy off the shelf cheapos.
I figure for a good varmint round would be worthwhile.

Depends on if you have to buy cases or not.
without cases about12.5 cents
with case about 25 cents.
If you have to buy cases Bulk Rem is the way to go. They sell the 250 round value packs for around $60. OBTW its my new PD ammo for my 223, No need in turning necks etc when I can buy it for the same money.

My loads are running:
Bullets 10 cents each
primer 2 cents each
powder 7 cents each
brass, depends on if I buy new, which is usually not the case, as I am getting 5 rounds + per case, and I pick up once fired .223 brass all the time at the range.
So, about 19 cents per shot, just under 4 bucks per box.

for plinkin with the semi's I just buy cheap ammo but not too cheap you dont want to shoot that gunky russian stuff in an AR-15 the gas system just wont take it and eventually you will be replacing the gas system in it. I go for PMC or PMP you can get a box of 20 for around 4 bucks which is about the same cost as reloading them. I do reload .223 though but not for plinking thats what the stuff I buy in bulk is for I do however put a little time into my 223 loads and worked them up for accuracy.

If money savings is the only object I believe the cost of the reloading equipment needs to be considered
