I am considerin the purchase of a 32-20. Anybody know something that I should know? Tom.

Well, let's see... It is a fun little cartridge that was once thought of as a real varmint killer. I even know guys who used to shoot deer with a .32/20 - likewise with a .25/20. I wish someone still made a nice Win. 92 lever action stylecarbine in .32/20 and .25/20.

Ballistically, the .32/20 is about like the .30 cal. U.S. carbine load, but uses slightly larger bullets (.311-.312"). You'll find some loading data on this page.... http://stevespages.com/312_2_110.html

It is also a real fun round to shoot from single-action revolvers!Good luck!

Fun guns is just what they are. They are not legal for deer in out state although they probabbly are in some places. I had a nice little Marlin lever gun in that caliber. While it was fun to shoot, it was not a real useful gun for me.

I had a Winchester with octagon barrel back in 1956 and when I went into the Army my father loaned it to my cousin and he sold it![:@]

When it was introduced it was Advertised as a small and medium game round that lived in the deer woods for over 50yrs.
