204 ruger loads?
I have a Savage 12 in .204 Ruger. I have loaded BL-C2 with marginal results. I am looking to load another powder that is more consistant. I can get groups sub 1/2 moa and then I can get a 2+ with the same reloads. I know it is not all "Operator Error"
My question is what ae you all loading for the 204? I am long on Varget and H380 right now. Any recipe's would be great. Ryan

RE: 204 ruger loads?
BL-C2 is a very consistant powder, I would look over other possibilities before ruling out the powder. just to give some ideas check over the gun, loose scope mounts loose stock screws etc. another thing is you obviously have a good load if its shooting sub 1/2 moa if the powder was truly inconsistant then I could see little variences from 1/2 moa to 1 or maybe a little over a moa. but as high as 2+ Id have to say its alot more operator error then the equipment or let alone the powder. after checking everything over and try shooting from a solid rest then maybe you can start ruling out ammo components. good luck

RE: 204 ruger loads?
I tend to shoot fast. I know that the barrel is not hot hot, and if it is getting to much variation from the speed I am shooting, it won't be good for my intended uses. I chose the BL powder b/c it metered well in my meter. I have/had no other reason to use it. I now have a chargemaster 1500 and am comfortable with using any powder as they all work well in the machine. I know that some of the group work is op error, but I shot a 3 shot group with 40gr Hornady's that was one ragged hole yesterday. Unfortunately, I got called away from the range with out getting to shoot more than one group with that rifle.
