i need some ammo and i was wondering if i would need a premiem bullet for this caliber i was thinking of some 200 grain soft points from winchester since there isnt to much vilocity its just 2900 i think and also i herd those bullts are good for how cheap they are

I don't understand whyone would skimp on the smallest cost of the hunt? I agree with handloader load up a premium bullet and go get your game(whatever might cross your path your GTG)!

I shoot the soft points but only at paper. When it comes down to the moment of truth I want a bullet that I know is going to perform flawlessly. I hunt with the Nosler Partitions and Accubonds.

I've been shooting and reloading for a .338 for years and I believe you only need one bullet weight for this caliber. Sure it's fun to work up various loads for numerous possible situations and animals, BUT ... a good 250 grain bullet, Nosler, Hornady, Sierra, just to name a few, will do it all with authority.
