Default Any good .270 WSM loads?

I am getting a new toy, it will be my deer/antelope/coyote thumper. Its a factory (one of the last few) NIB Winchester M70 Featherweight left hand 24" tube, its on layawayright now but by the end of june it will have its home in my safe. Anyway does anyone know of any loads for it. I am leaning towardsthe 140 grain bullets,(most likley the accubond) and I will only use winchester brass. I don't have a clue about which powder or primer to use yet. Of course I am willing to try out several once I have the gun but right now I am just learning/studying to know what direction I will take to prepare for reloading for it. Thanks in advance Jason.

59 grains of IMR 4350.... 130SST....not the 140's you are talking about.

I haven't tried those yet, but I have had great luck with 4831 and especially IMR 4350. Here is my group at 100 yards

I have had great success using Nosler 140gr BT in testing and 140gr Partitions for hunting in my wsm in 7mm using h 4831s/c using mag gold match primers. I don't think the Lost River bullets are in 140gr maybe 130gr J36 hunting Note photo of last bullet lost river it by far has the best BC 644 and shoots very very flat, never tryed yet on game.note how long and sleak the lost river is

I have a new Savage Varmit Model in 270 WSM that I am going to pick up this month. I plan to start with the 140 Ballistic tip for deer. I will start with WW brass and RE-19 powder and go from there. My Manuals suggest thas H4831sc should also be a good powder. I also have half a case of Accurate MRP which burns about lioke A3100 and uses the same dats. I would also try the Sierra Pro-Hunter if it comes in 140 Grain. The best deer bullet however will probably turn out to be the Nosler 130 Gr Partition.

I’ve done some reloading last year for my 270 WSM using the 140 gr. Nosler Accubond and Remington brass. The H4831sc was the powder of choice because of good results in accuracy with the Accubond. I had also tried IMR4350 & RE19 but wasn’t satisfied with the results. As you might know every rifle is different so good luck for that perfect load...

58.5 gr of H4831sc, ww case, fed 215 primer. This load shoots to the same point of impact using 140 gr accubonds or 140 gr sst's. This is out of my Ruger all weather, 22" barrel.

Thank you to all who replied, I don't have the gun yet (still on layway) but dang am I getting excited about bringing it home and reloading for it. Because the .270 WSM is so new, andthere is not much info out yet I haven't decided what powder and bullet to use, but betweenthis and otherweb sites I am learning and getting ideas. I plan on trying several different types of powder and bullets. I just hope the gun is a accurate shooter. For those of you that replied what speeds are you getting with the 130's and also with the 140 grain pills. I agree the 130 grain is just fine fordeer and antelope, but I am leaning towards the 140 grainersbecause of the higer BC number and the fact that out of a 24" tubeit should be a bit faster than the normal 270 winchester shooting 130's. The way I look at it I should be able to push a 140 grain bullet somewhere around 3240 on up to 3300 feet per second. Thats plenty fast for me, heck if I need more speed than that I'll just load up my 300 Ultra Mag with 150 grainers to 3600 f/s. Anyway enough rambling from me. Thanks again Jason

I've had great success loading 140gr Accubonds over top of 71gr of Retumbo (max load) group size is right at one inch in my Super shadow. I've used it on 5 deer so far (big northern WT's) from 30yds out to about 150yds. All pass through, one shot killsand very minimal meat damage.

I plan to also try the Federal Fusion factory loads as I love their performance from the 270 Win. So far they are just available in the 150 for the WSM.
