Mossy, Your sad Ruger tale reminds me of my Winchester Model 70 Lightweight Carbine in 30-06 years ago. I had been reloading for a few years and had not had any problems getting a couple of different .243 Winchesters to shoot pretty good. But that '06 was driving me nuts. Especially when I bought some real cheap PMC factory ammo in the old Orange box, 150 gr Spitzer bullet, and it shot better than any of my handloads. I couldn't take that, so I pulled one of the bullets and dumped the powder out and weighed it. It looked kind of like IMR-4895 and there were 49.0 gr in the case, so I bought some IMR-4895 and loaded 49 gr with a 150 gr Nosler Solid Base and proceeded to shoot decent groups with handloads for the first time. I later found even better loads with Accurate 2700 and the 150 gr Solid Bases, but the point is, I stuck with it, even trying to duplicate a factory load that shot well. .300 Winnie's advice is good, duplicate as close as possible the accurate factory load and see if it helps. Maybe it will provide some encouragement. Keep us posted.

Start with lapua brass, sierra bullets and Hogdon powder. Then try CCI benchmark primers. Also use the Lee collet size die. If you cant get it to shoot then I'de recomend you give that gun to someone you dislike very much and buy yourself a Savage!
