Anybody know a good light load for a 44 mag to be shot in a marlin rifle.
Can I use 44 special cases.

been a while but if memory serves it's around 7 grains Unique and a 240 LSWC

I use 10gr of Unique and 240gr laser cast semi wadcutters. I tried 8gr but it was real dirty. I got better accuracy with 10gr. You can go up to 12gr of Unique with a laser cast. Should feed fine thru your marlin. I have been using this load for years. Thats the reason I still use it. If I was you, I would try HP38 or titegroup. Close to unique but not as dirty.

To be on the safe side I would not use .44 S&W Special cases with .44 Rem. Mag. data.

Why handloader. That would defeat the purpose of a low pressure load? It would raise pressure? These loads are tried and true target loads.

a little different question here. what would be a good plinkingload for a .433 rond ball in 44 mag. cases with bullseye powder ?

I have a Speer #7 or #8 reloading manual that is on loan to a friend and I think their is data for the round ball load in it . If my memory serves me as well as I think the load is 4 grs of bulleseye, I'm quiet certain it will be safe. No recoil and very low report, lotta fun.

No, the 44 Special case doesn't grow. The bullet must bridge that 1/8" gap.

DO NOT USE 44 MAG LOADS IN 44 SPECIAL CASES ... EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES !! PERIOD !!!
Those are good questions but heed the warning. It is very important.

IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

Actually, I made the mistake. I read your first post as "to use 44spl cases with rem mag data".

I don't waste my money spl cases. I only get mag cases. That way I can shoot unique plinking loads or heavy 110 loads.

Just buy light Cowboy loads for plinking.
